Essential Question

We study new plants and the plant life cycle in first grade. In our curriculum we need to teach the children that living things have basic needs and change over time. My question for our unit this fall will be "How can almost all animals' food (even human animals) be traced back to plants? " I welcome your input (edits/additions) to my question, as it may not be broad enough. But remember, we're working with 5, 6, and 7 year olds! Thanks!

Just got back from a 3 hour kayak trip on the lake. Beautfiul! Watched a bald eagle through the binoculars for a long time. Saw several loons and a couple of blue herons as well. Got to thinking about the class and implications so far for working with some of the youngest. I was delighted to be introduced to the rubric/checklist making programs. Those will undoubtedly be helpful, and I have already created a couple of checklists for fall projects. Additionally, working with the universal streaming video was remarkable. I'm looking forward to doing a bit of research and then sharing what I find with my class. It seems really do-able, not overwhelming, so I'm thankful for that. Hope everyone has a great weekend, and I hope to see you Wednesday morning at the High School. Anyone want to help me gather signatures starting around 7:15. Call me at home! Thanks!
